A global vision rooted in local flavor
First Coast World Region of Gastronomy is a private-led initiative open to public, educational, and nonprofit partners. It aims to create a vibrant, inclusive community that supports the First Coast’s candidacy as a World Region of Gastronomy, a designation promoted by the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism (IGCAT.ORG).
This initiative is led by Francisco S Guitard, who since 2019 has dedicated his work to elevating the First Coast region, connecting it globally and educating about the vital role of cultural diversity as part of the true identity of the United States.
Why Gastronomy?
Gastronomy is not just about what we eat—it’s about who we are. The First Coast is home to nearly 500 years of culinary fusion influenced by Indigenous, African, Spanish, Minorcan, Greek, British and Caribbean cultures. Food here carries history, migration, resilience, and creativity.
This project is about protecting and projecting that heritage into the future—with pride, excellence, and a global voice.
